My grandaughter is 17 today!

You may be asking yourself (if you read my profile info), how is this possible?! She's only 39!

Well, 22 years ago I fell madly and deeply in love with a man who was twice my age....literally....I was 18 and he was (almost) 36. My step-son is 4 years younger than me and my step-daughter is 7 years younger....not much of a difference!

But we were in love so we got married in 1991 after dating for 3 years. Nineteen years later, we're still madly and deeply in love....we'll be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary in August!

Anywho, I became a grandma in 1993 when my step-daughter gave birth to our first grandchild....a little girl. I wasn't sure what to think about it....I was one month away from turning 23....I couldn't believe I was a grandma at the age of 22 years old!!! At first it wasn't a big deal cuz she wasn't talking yet.....then when she was able to talk and called me "gwamma" the first time....it didn't even phase me.....I honored the title. I loved being called grandma!
I had the privelege of "babysitting" my grandaughter several times as she grew. Taking her out in public was fun.....she would call me grandma and people would look at me like "NO WAY!"....LOL

She's a beautiful 17 year old young lady now....and she still calls me grandma.....and I couldn't be more proud of her!

Our short 2010 Vacation

We almost didn't get to go on vacation this year, so a short vacation was good enough for me! We decided to vacation close to home, so we went to Mahoney State Park. I wasn't too thrilled at first, cuz I really wanted to go somewhere out of state. But once we were there, it wasn't too bad.

And right next door to the park was SAC Museum. My husband REALLY wanted to go, but I kept insisting we don't....I figured it would be boring and the kids wouldn't like it.....well, they liked it for about the first 10 minutes....then they were bored. We spent about an hour and a half there. Luckily they had a "playground" area where the kids played while my hubby walked around and looked at everything. Afterwards, he even said it wasn't what he expected.

The rocket in front of SAC Museum

The morning of the same day that we went to SAC Museum, we went on a horseback ride. The kids LOVED this! Kylee's horse was a little ornery and didn't want to follow the trail. He walked off into the tall grass. Luckily the guides were able to get him back in line. They had to tie her horse to the horse ahead of her so it wouldn't wander off again. It was SOOO hot and humid that day! We were sweating so bad. My jeans and shirt were so wet, I had to change clothes when we went back to the lodge!!
Here we are on our horses: Josh was on Midnight, I was on Scout, Hubby was on Bubba and Kylee was on Cody

On our way into the park, there's a Marina where the ducks like to hang out. They cross the road like they own it....we literally had to stop and wait for them to cross! And they don't hurry...they take their sweet time...LOL.

And here's the view of the Platte River from the lookout tower. We were going to go all the way to the top of the tower, but hubby and I only made it as far as the fifth level of stairs (there were about 9 or 10 levels). I HATE HEIGHTS!!! My stomach was doing flips even at this level! Kylee and Josh were brave though and continued all the way to the top! I was so scared for them too, but they acted like it was nothing. They came back down and wondered what the big deal was....LOL.

We also went to Henry Doorly Zoo and the waterpark (located in the state park). I took over 200 pictures at the Zoo! I didn't think to post any and the picture load thing on here always puts the pictures at the beginning if I add more...don't feel like messin' with it. And I spaced off taking my camera in to the waterpark, so I don't have any pictures of that. :o(
All in all, we had a LOT of fun. We will definitely be going back. They also have camp sites and cabins. We're thinking of going camping there next summer! :o)

New mattress!

Here it is!

We've lived in our home for nearly 13 years and recently my bed had been making me sooo uncomfortable. I tossed and turned pretty much every night. I'd wake up with backaches. It was getting bad. I mentioned to my husband that the year we moved in here was the same year we got our bed/mattress. He didn't realize it had been that long. So we started researching the Tempur-Pedic line of mattresses. I'd always wondered what the Tempur-Pedic mattress would be like. I'd heard a lot of "good" about it. So we were on a mission to get one.

After "testing" three different versions of the Tempur-Pedic (in the store), we ended up getting a Tempur-Pedic Deluxe Mattress. It was the "mid-range" mattress of the three that they had. Not too hard, not too soft. :o) Waaaay different than a traditional mattress! It's definitely going to take some getting use to. I would describe it as a cross between laying on a big Jell-O jiggler (without the jiggling) and a mound of mashed potatoes...LOL....it's firm, yet when you lay down, it molds to your body.

I did notice that when my husband would turn or even when he got out of bed that I didn't "feel" when he moved or got out of bed. There was no bouncing or moving at all. It was awesome! I think once I get use to it, I'll sleep pretty good. OH, and also once I get my Tempur-Pedic pillow.....we were suppose to get two with the purchase of our mattress, but they only had one in stock, so I was nice and let my husband have the first one. :o)

Although, once I DO get my new pillow, I'll probably have a few more nights of "getting use to" the pillow after already getting use to the mattress.....UGH! LOL :o)

Not much to blog about

Have you ever just had those days.....no, weeks........no, months...where NOTHING happens and you just don't have ANYTHING to "talk" about? That's been my last 30+ days.....absolutely NOTHING has been going on......blog worthy that is.

And I'm not very good at "winging it". This is about as good as it gets....LOL.

Soooo......as far as this post is concerned, I just thought I'd let ya'll know....at least those that read my blog....that, yes, I'm still alive.....still kickin'....still out here.....I just got nothin' to blog about. :o(

Well.....until there is something to blog about......or until I post another "just-to-let-ya-know-I'm-still-here" blog......ta ta for now. :o)

Almost, but not quite

We almost had the chance to adopt a baby girl....we had only found out this girl was pregnant on March 5th (she had been in denial about her pregnancy and hid it from everyone) and that she was going to give the baby up for adoption....Hubby and I discussed it and let her know that we would be interested in adopting the baby if it was a girl. She went in on Wednesday, March 10th and found out she was having a girl. I was excited, but was also feeling like this wasn't meant to be.

She was given a due date of April 8th.

Well, we thought we would have a little longer to think it over, but as it turned out, her water broke that evening (March 10th) and she delivered her baby girl on Thursday, March 11th. I had been on the fence about it from the get-go, and after talking to hubby, we decided it wouldn't be the best for our family to adopt another child at this time....but, it turns out, she is considering parenting the baby anyway....which we're extremely happy about....cuz it kinda takes that "did we make the right decision?" thought away. We weighed the pros and cons of adding to our family and we came up with more cons than pros....which confirmed our decision that we are done. No more kids for us. We're extremely happy with our two precious kiddos!

Other than that, we have had absolutely NOTHING happening in our lives. It's the same ol' thing day in and day out. Go to work/school, come home, clean house/play (the kids...not me...lol), eat, watch a little t.v., then off to bed before starting it all over again the next day! BORING!

I wish we had more of a social life. Maybe this summer will be more exciting (I hope!).

When will spring ever be here!?

It must be the time of year

I started to type in what was going to be the title of this post ("Sick of being Sick") and it popped up in the list of titles that I've already used, which made me curious if I'd already typed out this post and just forgot about it (which wouldn't surprise me...LOL). Turns out, it was a post that I made almost exactly ONE YEAR ago! I read through it and it almost described to a "T" how I feel now! Isn't that weird? I have nearly the same symptoms with this cold as I did with a cold I had a year ago! LOL

Only difference this time is I don't have the cough (thank goodness). I refuse to let the sinus drainage go down my throat....it's not a very attractive noise that I make to "hack" up the phlegm...LOL....but I'd much rather have it in the kleenex or garbage can than down my throat and into my chest where I'd have to cough to get it back out. I know, I know...TMI. :o)

I'm going on two weeks with this darn cold. Winter can't get gone soon enough for me! I'm tired of the cold....not only the one that has invaded my body, but the temperature outside. We're suppose to average highs in the mid 30's this time of year and we're gonna be lucky to have highs barely reaching 30 all week. UGH!

Well, it's snowing....AGAIN!

In the past, when the winters were pretty mild and we didn't get much snow, I welcomed the snow, I embraced the snow, I LOVED the snow. Now.....after an early December snow that dropped about 4 or 5 inches, then a blizzard on Christmas day that added another 8 to 10 inches, ultra cold weather that's kept the snow from melting and a couple other minor snow falls....I'M PRETTY SICK AND TIRED OF FRIGGIN' SNOW!!!!

I want it to warm up and melt all this white crap and let Spring....well....SPRING!

Damn you Punxsutawney Phil for seeing your shadow and making us endure 6 more weeks of this crap!

I'm kinda likin' this

The place where I work has been undergoing remodeling/rennovations since December 24th, so I've been off work since then.

I've always wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom and I'm gettin' a good taste of it during this "time off".

I don't want to go back to work....but unfortunately I'll have to.

It's also been kinda scary during this time with no paycheck! I like the extra income....I just wish it didn't have to be like that. I wish our government would pay mom's (or dad's if the mom is willing to work) to stay home to care for the kids and take care of the house.....wouldn't that be awesome! And I don't mean Welfare...I'm talking a legitimate paycheck for doing a days work....cuz it is WORK to have kids and a home......maybe in a perfect world *sigh*

I Hate Potholes!

As if it weren't bad enough with all the fog and dreary weather we've been having lately, now we have potholes to deal with!

It's awesome that the snow is melting, but now there's nothing to fill up the holes in the roads! It's like playing dodge ball when driving down the street..."left.....no, right....now left.....bang, SPLASH!" And you swear you've just popped a tire or lost half of your undercarriage! It's ridiculous!

I can't wait for spring!

Of course, then I'll probably have to deal with all the road construction as they try to fix all those darn potholes! UGH! LOL

Maybe we should start building an ark!

They say that 90 days from a fog day there will be precipitation.

Well, we've had 3 straight days of fog! And not just fog for a couple hours in the morning, but ALL DAY fog!

If we're suppose to get at least 3 straight days of rain (it'd be around April 15th), on top of all of this snow melting.....well....I'm thinking an Ark would be a good idea to start building about now!

We live near a large river....far enough away that I'm not too worried, but close enough that it could be a concern if we get A LOT of rain.

I'm hoping we won't be floating away in April....I guess only time will tell.

A New Blog Look!

I decided I was tired of my old blog background so I spent WAAAAY too much time today trying to find something I liked...LOL....and this is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy my new look. Let me know if you see anything that needs "tweaking". Thanks! :o)

Hallelujia!!!

Praise the Lord, the temperatures for most of this week are suppose to be ABOVE freezing!!!!

I actually went and washed my car today....I know it'll get all gross again, I just wanted to get the thick layer of scum off of it before I add some more...LOL. Then when the roads get dry, I'll probably wash it again.....unless we get more snow...God forbid! So far there is no snow in the forecast...hopefully it stays that way!

The kids finally went back to school.....they had 13 days off for Christmas break, went back last Tuesday for a full day, then Wednesday they got out early because of the weather, then school was closed Thursday and Friday because of the severely cold temps/wind chill. I was about to go bonkers...I love my kids with all my heart, but I can only take so much....LOL

Anywho, just wanted to blog something real quick to let ya'll know I'm still here.....thanks for reading. :o)
