Kylee's First Softball game

Kylee wanted to try coach-pitch softball this summer, so I got her signed up and her first game was Thursday night. For having never played softball before, she did an AWESOME job!
This was her second At-bat...she got two strikes.....

.....and then BOOM....she hit the ball and ran for first....

The next batter hit the ball and she made it to third base!!
Then the next batter hit the ball and she ran to home base!!!!! WOO HOO! She scored a point for the team!
I didn't get a picture of her run to home plate cuz I was too busy cheering and clapping....LOL

Her team won 4 to 1...it was so much fun watching them....I can't wait for the next game!

Our "Family Reunion"

Last weekend we went to our first annual (at least I hope this is something we'll do again each year) Family Reunion.

This is a picture of my niece and the HUGE catfish that she caught! With a little help from my step-brother-in-law and his son, she managed to reel it in. It was about 18 inches long!!!

This is my hubby and our son "fishing".....or, I should say pretending to fish....all he had on his line was a weight and a bobber. My hubby doesn't have a fishing license, so he couldn't actually fish....not to mention, we didn't trust Josh with a hook on his line....too dangerous!! LOL

And here's my darling Kylee.....waiting patiently for a fish to bite....but never did get one.....she was so bummed. She didn't want her picture taken, so she wouldn't look at me.

And here's Kylee with Grandpa. She loves her Grandpa SOOOO much!

And this is a picture that I took on our way home. The sun shining on the clouds is always so beautiful and I couldn't resist taking a picture. I wasn't sure how it would turn out since I was taking it through the window of the car going about 65 miles per hour, but it came out pretty good (if I do say so myself).

We had a great time! Hope to do it again soon!

I've been so busy and I'm so horribly behind!!!

You should see my calendar on my refrigerator....there is hardly a day that doesn't have something written on it....whether it be ball practice, ball games, dance practice, dance recital, Dr.'s appointments, dentist appointments, you name it....it's on there! And I fear it's only going to get worse as the kids get older. Josh isn't "in" anything.....yet.....so I'm sure it will get worse.

So I'm going to try to get updated here.....it's been awhile. These are pictures from my daughters school field trip. This is Kylee petting a llama...with some of her friends watching that weren't brave enough to pet it...LOL

Here's a bunch of the kids in an Eagle's Nest.
Climbing a rope "spider web"

An awesome all-white peacock....I'd never seen a WHITE peacock...it was beautiful!

The entire 1st grade class

Despite it raining at home when we left to go on the field trip, when we got to our destination, it wasn't raining and it turned out to be a pretty good day. We only missed out on about 10 minutes of our day when it started raining hard enough that we couldn't stay out in it without getting drenched....LOL.

Finally took a picture of my perm!

Sorry, it's a little blurry....I must not have held the camera still enough...LOL
But here I am, with my new....well, almost new....do. If you look closely, you can see a red splotch under my lip on the right side (my left)...that's where my impetigo was....it left a bit of a scar :o( (it's kinda hard to see in this pic since it's blurry, but it's there).
I also came to realize, after taking this picture, just how FAT I am! OMG! I am definitely starting Weight Watchers as soon as possible!!!
Maybe in a few months I will do a "Before" and "After" post....to show my progress :o)
Wish me luck!

I had an O.K. Mother's Day

Mother's Day didn't go quite as expected for me yesterday. First, my hubby had to work in the morning till about noon. Kylee couldn't wait for him to get home to give me her card, so she and Joshua got their cards for me and I opened them. They were really sweet.

I had planned on going bowling with hubby and the kids after we ate a quick lunch. I thought it would be fun, plus Josh had never been bowling before, so I wanted to take him for his first time. But after calling both bowling alleys in town, I found out that neither of them were open on Sundays. Disappointment #1.

So, I called hubby to let him know that we wouldn't be going bowling and he mentioned going to this place called Classics to eat lunch. I had wanted to go to Playa Azul....an authentic Mexican restaurant. We'd never been there before, so I thought it would be a good time to try it. We'd never been to Classics either, so I decided to call and ask them how late they were open (in case we would've rather done supper instead of lunch) and if they had any Mother's Day specials. Well, they were only open till 2 p.m., so that meant if we were going to go there it would have to be for lunch, then the lady on the phone told me that they had a buffet and it was $14.95 for adults, mom's eat for $10.95 and $5.00 for children 10 and under. I kinda thought "ouch" as far as the prices, but hey, it was Mother's day, so I figured we could splurge a little. :o)

When hubby got home I told him about what I found out and we decided to go to Classics. It's only about 4 blocks from where we live, so it was a short drive. We pulled up and the parking lot was packed! But we still went in. We were in line and the group ahead of us was waiting to be seated, so it took a couple minutes for the hostess to come back. She finally returns and asks us if we have a reservation. We looked at each other and she said "oh, we don't take walk-ins". I was fuming! When I called, the lady on the phone said NOTHING about needing to make a reservation! I made sure to mention that as we were leaving too. In fact, the gentleman in line behind us must not have known about needing a reservation either, because he walked out too. Disappointment #2

So, as we drive away from there, hubby suggests going to a place called Back Alley Eatery. I was all for that, remembering that they serve steak! I was craving steak for some reason. Kylee, on the other hand, was NOT happy about this decision. She wanted to go to Playa Azul (she mentioned something about eating frog legs and that she could get them there....ewwwww!) I told her that it was my decision where we were going to eat since it was Mother's day. She still wasn't happy about it and cried and threw a big drama-filled fit. She told me she wasn't going to go in. I made her go in, so she told me she wasn't going to eat. She sat next to me and pouted and cried. Disappointment #3

It was about 1:15 when we got there (they were only open till 2 p.m.).....when the waitress came over, she mentioned that they weren't serving steaks (they only serve steak after 5 p.m. and I had totally forgotten about that....boo hoo) and that they were out of 1/2 chickens and all desserts except ice cream! So I settled for a salad, a BBQ chicken sandwich with french fries and a Sierra Mist. Not the greatest Mother's day meal, but at least I didn't have to make it....LOL

Kylee actually did order something to eat.....she got a hot dog and a side of Mac 'n Cheese.....then proceeded to eat some of my salad and fries and about 1/4 of hubby's beef brisket! She ended up giving her mac 'n cheese to Joshua and only took two bites of her hot dog! All in all it went pretty good and we all left with full bellies. Oh, my meal was 1/2 price....I think our total bill was about $28.00 and we left a $3.00 tip. I didnt' think that was too bad for the 4 of us.

Then we went to Earl May to get a couple replacement bushes for the two that died last summer. So while hubby was doing that, the kids and I went inside to look at all the critters. They had one puppy for sale and bunches of hamsters, gerbils, mice, lizards, fish and birds. And of course we had to look at ALL of them! LOL

I thought for sure hubby was going to get me a hanging basket or something. We walked around and looked at some of the flowers. I pointed out these plants that I had seen on a previous visit that are called "Stepables"....they're a groundcover....plants that you can actually walk on! We have an area in our yard that is difficult to mow, so I thought this might be the answer....but it was $3.99 a pot (only about 3" square). We weren't sure how many it would take to cover the area.....he said he'd have to think about it. As we were looking around, it started to sprinkle and it was kinda chilly, so hubby wanted to go. No hanging basket for me. :o( Disappointment #4

We got home and pretty much just vegged out the rest of the evening. Two of my favorite shows are on Sunday evenings (Amazing Race and Desperate Housewives), so I was looking forward to that. Other than a few spats between the kids that, of course, I had to break up because hubby was too busy reading his paper, the evening went pretty good.

Then today, before taking Josh to preschool, I stopped at hubby's work place and my step-daughter was there....she had bought me a hanging basket for Mother's day, but didn't have time to drop it off yesterday! How coincedental is that? LOL

I don't mean to sound like my Mother's Day was a complete let down, because it wasn't.....it just wasn't as perfect as I had hoped for....but in the end, when I think about it, I got exactly what I wanted.....a day to relax, a good meal, healthy kids and a loving husband.....oh, and a beautiful hanging basket! Life is good!
